Different Sequential Chemical Treatments Used to Obtain Bleached Cellulose from Orange Bagasse

The development of efficient pretreatments is widely used in biobased products aiming to add value the residue. In this study, orange bagasse investigated for cellulose extraction under moderate chemical sequential conditions. Three are evaluated: alkaline treatment, organosolv, and residue insoluble alcohol. Then, all pretreated samples bleached. results analyzed by composition, Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis. general, similar observed bleaching samples, independently pretreatment. A amount among samples. When compared only pretreatments, shows be a more effective way presenting higher crystallinity index. Hemicellulose lignin mostly removed after FTIR XRD indicated that pretreatment seems first step. TG curves presented homogeneous pattern due removal showing three steps pre-treatment two bleached obtained has numerous potential applications, suitable route can selected according available reagents.
